On Saturday, September 12, 2015, 3:00 – 10:00 pm, the autumn art event at 506 Ash Street, Elsmere, KY, takes place. The show recognizes the history of the 506 studio, a former automotive garage, and its location on Ash Street with its six auto garages.
Art Driven at 506 will have auto and motorcycle art with invited show cars displayed outside on Ash Street. Fourteen prominent local artists and designers, including six with links to UC DAAP’s transportation design program, are participating. Their works include oil paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, digitally drawn vehicle designs, 3D printed concept cars and pin-striped auto parts. (See names below.) The show cars expected will be an eclectic mix of classic and custom vehicles, ArtCars, and we expect a racer from one of the Ash Street garages. Also expected is the DMC Delorean “Back to the Future” show car – a theme of one of the concept car designs. The 506 garden will display a motorcycle classic, a Moto Guzzi.
Rob Jefferson, OHHS ’88, will be a featured artist at the exhibition and OHHS art teacher Jamie Schorsch’s M.C. Escher and Kandinsky ArtCars, created with apprentice artists through ArtWorks, will be on display along with the Botticelli ArtCar that former ArtWorks apprentice, Rupie Spraul (OHHS ’14) worked to help create (and drive).
