At the November 19th Creative Canvassing event, students had the opportunity to meet with local artist Kevin Muente. Muente is professor of art at Northern Kentucky University. Muente has exhibited his paintings in various national juried competitions and is currently represented by Cincinnati Art Galleries in Cincinnati, Ohio. He has garnered several awards and honors including the Kentucky Arts Council’s Al Smith Individual Artist Fellowship, a Cincinnati Summerfair Aid to Individual Artist Grant, and Artist Residencies at Denali National Park and Preserve and the Wrangell Mountains Center in Alaska; Wild Acres in North Carolina; and Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. Muente has previously taught at the Milwaukee Art Museum and Missouri Western State University. Students learned about Kevin’s creative process and information about the world of professional artists.
‘Creative Canvassing’ is a year long art and design series brought to you by National Art Honor Society. Imagine cool talks by artists and designers who will share their stories and show you how they create amazing stuff, presentations about college and post-secondary options, and strategies to help you figure out how to keep your artistic passions alive after high school. CC events happen after school, so you don’t miss out on the chance to dive into the world of art and design, learn new things, and let your creativity run wild.
